India Test captain: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played on November 22 between India and Australia. This is the first time BGT is hosting a five-match Test series. Team India has been announced for the Test series. A batch of Team India players have also left for Australia, including youngsters such as Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammad Siraj. The head coach and other senior players will leave in the second batch. But regular captain Rohit Sharma’s availability for the first Test match remains highly doubtful. The big question before the Indian team is who will be the captain if Rohit is unable to play the first Test match? Former India cricketer and head coach Gautam Gambhir issued a statement on this.
Bumrah will be captain in Rohit’s absence
Before leaving for Australia, the India head coach said that if Rohit Sharma is unable to play the first Test match due to personal reasons, the team will be led by Jasprit Bumrah. He is also the team’s vice-captain. Bumrah had previously captained India in a Test match against England, which India lost. He also said that the team can select KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran as the opening batsmen.
He said I didn’t feel any pressure. It is an honor to be the coach of Team India. The head coach was asked if he was feeling the pressure of the Duncan Fletcher era as the team was in a period of change. He said I was not thinking about changes but five Test matches. Whether there is a change or not, if it has to happen, it will happen, but I see some incredible players in the Indian team who are hungry to perform.
India has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the past four times.
India has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia for the past four times. But this time the road doesn’t look easy for Team India. India lost the Test series 3-0 to New Zealand. And Australian players are already preparing for this series. Most of Australia’s senior players did not play in the last ODI against Pakistan.
