Aamir Jangu gets his first chance
Wicketkeeper-batsman Aamir Jangu has earned a place in the West Indies ODI squad for the first time. Justin Greaves is also back. Both players have performed well for West Indies in the Super-50, the domestic cricket tournament. Now, he’s been rewarded for his performance. Aamir Jangu is the highest run-scorer in the tournament. He scored 446 runs in seven innings at an average of 89.20, including three half-centuries and a century. Greaves ranks second in the run-scoring list, scoring 401 runs in five innings, averaging 133.66. Greaves was in good form and also scored a goal in the Test match against Bangladesh, single-handedly leading the team to victory.
Head coach Darren Sammy said this
Head coach Darren Sammy said the team hopes to continue moving towards the ICC World Cup goal. We want to develop a group of players to win the series. Especially at home, hoping to continue their recent winning streak against England. Able to bat anywhere in the first six, Greaves brings real all-round ability to the side which is welcome at this level. And Aamir Jangu has been outstanding for some time.
