The launch ceremony of the 38th National Games was held in Uttarakhand, with CM Dhami presiding over the opening ceremony.
The 38th National Games will open in Uttarakhand on January 28, and preparations are in full swing. On Sunday, a grand launch of the National Games logo, mascot, national anthem, jersey and torch was held at the Maharana Pratap Stadium. During this time, the mascot “Mauli” (the Monal bird) appeared in a new avatar. The event was attended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khaders, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and Sports Minister Rekha Arya. The show was broadcast live in four cities.
Speaking on the show, Sports Minister Rekha Arya expressed confidence in the players of the state and said this is the decade of Uttarakhand. Players from the state will perform well in the National Games. While briefing on the preparations for the National Games, he said that the eighth racing venue in the country has been completed in Uttarakhand. The cost of the circuit built in Udham Singh Nagar area is around Rs 24 crore. During the inauguration ceremony, a formal ceremony was held and the ribbon was cut and unveiled.
Events will be held in four regions
The National Games will be held in four regions: Uttarakhand, Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. The Minister of Sports stated that all arrangements for player accommodation and matches are being completed on a state of war footing. The government has announced job and cash incentives to athletes from Uttarakhand who win medals at the National Games. The event will bring a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to the youth of the state and will also give a new image to the sports sector in the state.
So many competitions will be organized
During the competition, 28 events including badminton, volleyball, shooting, equestrian, wrestling, yoga, malcamb, kayaking, canoeing, cycling, track and field, archery, boxing, and karate will be held. Hundreds of players from across the country will arrive in Uttarakhand to participate in these tournaments. The government aims that while hosting the event, the state’s athletes should also achieve high positions in the medal tally.

Describing it as a game-changer for Uttarakhand, Sports Minister Rekha Arya said the event will take sports and tourism in the state to new heights. The mascot, torch and anthem of the National Games also reflect the cultural and natural heritage of Uttarakhand. The event was made even more special for the state with icons such as mascot Mauli, Sadanira Ganga and Brahma Kamal also joining the mix.
