The battle for the Jharkhand assembly elections finally fell into the hands of the tribal chief minister. While the Indian Union has been talking about tribal chiefs, Prime Minister Modi has also hinted at setting up tribal chiefs in the state. Prime Minister Modi said at an election rally in Chaibasa that the BJP governments were formed in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Command of both states was given to tribal chiefs. Beyond that, the Prime Minister said nothing more. But his remarks sparked discussions in political circles whether the chief minister’s post could be handed over to tribal leaders if a BJP government is formed in Jharkhand too, as has been done in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. If the BJP does this, it will change the historical trend of 2014, when for the first time after winning the 2014 assembly elections, the BJP appointed a non-tribal chief minister to the state in the form of Raghubar Das.
CM Soren also issued a statement
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday said tribals will rule the state as it belongs to them. Addressing the rally, he said that we fought for an independent Jharkhand and we will also fight to ensure our rights. Tribals will rule here because Jharkhand belongs to tribals.
According to the 2011 census, the total population of Jharkhand was 32,988,134. Of these, 26.21% (8,645,042) are tribal. Except Raghubar Das, all the chief ministers of the state so far have come from tribal communities.
Khage also raised the issue of tribal CM
Congress president Mallikarjun Haq also raised the issue of tribal chief ministers. Addressing a meeting, he said the BJP aimed to seize power in some cases by capturing Jharkhand and removing the tribal chief minister. Khaq attacks PM Modi, saying PM is just lying, he talks about OBC, SC, ST and tribals but when Soren government increased OBC reservation from 14% to 27% in 2022, SC % and ST increased by 10% -12%. Got to 26-28% and it’s still lying there. Modi, if you are a sympathizer of OBC, SC, ST and tribals, then why didn’t you pass?
