Minister Kiren Rijiju holds meeting with all parties
Federal Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rigiju held a meeting with party leaders in the upper and lower houses of parliament on Sunday. During the meeting with Rijiju, the opposition parties asked the Center to allow Parliament to discuss the US prosecutor’s bribery charges against the Adani group. The minister clarified that matters raised by the House of Representatives and the Senate will be decided by the empowered committee with the consent of the Speaker.
After the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju said the government has called on all parties to ensure the smooth operation of the House of Commons and the House of Federation.
16 provinces including Waqf Act listed
The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has listed 16 bills, including the Waqf Bill Amendment Bill, in the session ending December 20.The Religious Endowments (Amendment) Bill is being scrutinized by a joint parliamentary committee. The group was due to submit its report this session, but opposition members asked for an extension of time for the group to submit its report.
