Ankit Rajput wrote on social media, It is with great humility that I announce my retirement from Indian cricket today. The cricket journey from 2009 to 2024 was the best time of my life. I am grateful to the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and Kanpur Cricket Association for the opportunities provided to me.
Five teams participating in IPL
Ankit Rajput also expressed his gratitude to his five IPL teams, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. He took a total of 24 wickets in 29 games in the IPL. Former India fast bowler Siddharth Kaul also bid farewell to domestic cricket last month. Like him, Rajput is also exploring the possibility of T20 leagues around the world. No active cricketer associated with the Indian Cricket Board can play in foreign leagues.
Scored over 200 wickets in first-class cricket
Ankit Rajput was unable to play a single international match for India. But his record domestically is outstanding. He took 248 wickets in 80 first-class matches. Apart from this, he took 71 wickets in 50 A-grade games. He took a total of 105 wickets in T20 cricket.
