New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held delegation-level talks with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun in Vientiane on Wednesday. The talks come just weeks after Indian and Chinese troops withdrew from two conflict zones in eastern Ladakh. The meeting was held in the Lao capital on the sidelines of a summit of the 10-nation ASEAN group and some of its dialogue partners. He said during the meeting that the two countries should avoid a conflict like the one in Galwan.

After meeting with Chinese Defense Minister General Dong Jun, Rajnath Singh posted on social media platform A roadmap for rebuilding mutual trust and understanding.
India and China reach agreement
Indian and Chinese troops completed the disengagement process at Demchok and Depsang late last month. Previously, after many talks, the two sides reached an agreement to resolve the border dispute. Both sides also began patrolling the two areas after a gap of about four and a half years.
Rajnath Singh visits Vientiane
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh began a three-day visit to Vientiane on Wednesday, with the main purpose of attending the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus). ADMM-Plus is a forum composed of the 10 ASEAN countries and their eight dialogue partners (India, China, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia and the United States). Laos, as the current chairman of ADMM-Plus, hosted the meeting.
