The great cricketer was nearly eaten by a crocodile, but a player from the “enemy” team saved his life.

Rarely does a man encounter a situation where his life is in danger and the enemy comes to his rescue. This is possible in movies, but rare in real life. A similar situation unfolded in Australia when a great cricketer’s life was in danger. When the cricketer’s life was threatened, his former Australian rival came to his rescue. No one would have known about the incident if the veteran cricketer had not shared a post about it on social media.

In fact, the then legendary England cricketer Ian Botham is currently in Australia. A few days ago, he fell into a river full of crocodiles in Australia’s Northern Territory. Thereafter, he is saved by a man who was once his rival on the cricket field. It was none other than his former Australian rival Merv Hughes. Ian Botham took to social media to express his gratitude to Merv Hughes for saving his life.

This is how Ian Botham’s life was saved

Ian Botham said the incident happened last week when he went fishing with Hughes and some of his friends during a four-day trip. According to reports, Botham was changing boats on the Moyle River, 200 kilometers southwest of Darwin, when his slippers got caught on the rope and fell into the river. Former Australia fast bowler Hughes jumped into action and along with some fishermen pulled Botham out of the water. Botham was also injured when he hit the side of the boat while being pulled from the water.

Posting the photo on Instagram on Friday, Botham wrote that he was about to become the center of attention for the alligator and bull shark, but his colleagues quickly pulled him from the water. He was grateful for it. Botham is currently in Australia to commentate for the five-match Test series between India and Australia starting on November 22.
