The good news for those returning from Chhath Puja is that the Railways has once again made a big announcement.

Chhath Puja is celebrated religiously in various parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Enthusiasm for the festival is so high that thousands of visitors return home from out of state each year. Now, considering the return of passengers after the Chhath Puja and the resulting crowds, the Railways has taken a big decision. Since November 8, the railway has arranged more than 500 special trains for the peak period of passengers returning home. The railroad released the information on Wednesday.

Where will the train depart from?

“Special trains have been announced for returning passengers and additional trains are planned from Samastipur, Danapur and other districts to cater to local demand,” a statement issued by the Railway Board said.

How many trains run on any day?

A notification issued by the Railway Board stated that the influx of passengers will start after sunrise at Chhath Puja on November 8. Considering the possible congestion of passengers, the railway department arranged 164 special trains on November 8. The railways subsequently plans to operate 160 special trains on November 9, 161 trains on November 10 and 155 special trains on November 11.

More than 10 million passengers on November 4

The Railway Administration reported that on November 4, the railway carried 12.072 million passengers in a single day, a record high. The board informed that of these passengers, 19.43 lakh were booked passengers and 101.29 lakh were unreserved non-suburban passengers. The number of passengers traveling by rail exceeds the population of Australia and New Zealand combined. The Railway Administration reported that about 6.5 million passengers took 4,521 special trains in the past 36 days. According to the Railway Administration, a total of 7,724 special trains were operated from October 1 to November 30 to meet the growing travel demand during the festival. This is an increase of more than 73% compared to last year’s 4,429 trains. (input language)
