The accused sent an edited obscene video to a girl’s fiancé and he was released after the panchayat punished him with shoes. According to the arbitrator’s ruling, the victim’s mother assaulted the defendant. The defendant also agreed to this punishment.

Such is the case in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The panchayat of a village in the area punished an accused by beating him with a slipper to resolve the case for editing the girl’s photos and making them public. However, Bareilly (North) Superintendent of Police Mukesh Chandra Mishra said the police did not have any information about any such incident but would take action after investigating the matter.

Sources said the young man used the stolen phone to edit photos of the girl and publish them on social media.

He told that the girl’s family complained to the village committee, which decided to resolve the matter by beating the young man with slippers.

He said the victim’s mother beat the young man with a slipper after the panchayat’s decision.

The village committee said that if the matter was left to the police, the young man’s future would be ruined, so the matter was resolved by beating the defendant with a slipper.

Nawabganj block in-charge Pragya Gangwar said on Tuesday that the incident took place in Hardua village in her block. He said the young man had published objectionable photos of a village girl which had been edited.

Gangwar said the resignation was offered considering the young man’s future in the panchayat, but the girl’s mother put a condition that she would not forgive the young man unless he beat her with a slipper.
