The SIT investigating the rape and murder case of a lady doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College has been strengthened. To increase the efficiency of this special investigation team formed by Kolkata Police, a dynamic IPS officer has been included. According to sources, DCP rank IPS Amit Verma is going to play an important role in the 8-member SIT.
Kolkata Police has deployed 15 policemen in one shift to assist the SIT. A senior police officer claims that the SIT is working 24×7. The investigation work is going on in three shifts in a day. Along with this, the head of the chest medicine department of RG Kar Medical College and the assistant superintendent have been called for questioning by the detective department of Kolkata Police.
Medical college administration first said suicide
Sources say that the Assistant Superintendent of the Chest Medicine Department first called the victim’s family. He told them that the victim had committed suicide in the hospital. Now both have been asked to be present at Kolkata Police Headquarters at 11 am on Tuesday. Before this, 7 junior doctors including medical college intern, house staff, PGT were called and interrogated.
Police called these people for questioning
Police sources claim that all these people were on duty on the night when the victim was raped and murdered in the seminar hall. Four of these people had also eaten food with the victim. Kolkata Police will soon call some more doctors from the medical college. Earlier, Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the Medical College for the second time on Sunday. Had a meeting with junior doctors there.
Police Commissioner assured of transparent investigation
The Police Commissioner has assured that a transparent investigation is being conducted. He told, “After committing the crime, the accused Sanjay Roy had gone back to his house, where he slept till late on Friday morning. After waking up, he washed the clothes worn during the crime to destroy the evidence. During the search, his shoes There were blood stains on them. There was no evidence of anyone else’s involvement in this incident.
Crime scene recreated at the scene of the incident
A police officer said that people on duty from Thursday night to Friday morning are also being talked to. CCTV footage has also been examined. The forensic unit along with the SIT has collected samples from the seminar hall. The crime scene has also been recreated at the scene of the incident. The post-mortem report has been handed over to the parents of the deceased doctor. Police say that they are not trying to hide anyone.
Junior doctors on strike, demand for security
On the other hand, the agitating junior doctors said that they will continue their protest until they are completely satisfied and their demands related to safety are not addressed. After the meeting with the Police Commissioner, a junior doctor said that work in all emergency and non-emergency services will remain closed. Junior doctors, house staff and PGTs in government hospitals are also demanding security.
Medical college principal resigns
Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, Principal of RG Kar Medical College, has resigned. He said that he was being defamed on social media. The victim doctor was like his daughter. He is resigning as a parent. This should never happen to anyone in future. Kolakat police has also removed an ACP Muralidhar Sharma, who was responsible for the security of the medical college. He was earlier included in the investigation team.

Superintendent of Chest Medicine Department removed
After this horrifying incident, Dr. Sanjay Vashishtha, Superintendent of Chest Medicine Department of RG Kar Medical College, was also removed from his post. He was in charge there for a long time. In his place, hospital dean Bulbul Mukhopadhyay has been given the responsibility. There was a demand for the removal of the superintendent ever since the body of the lady doctor was recovered on Friday. But after 48 hours the health department issued an order to remove him.
Watched porn while drinking, then raped and murdered a doctor
Many big revelations have been made during the investigation of this case. Police sources say that accused criminal Sanjay Roy was addicted to watching porn films while drinking alcohol. He had come and gone inside the hospital several times on the night of the incident. The crime is being confirmed on the basis of interrogation of the accused, circumstantial evidence and CCTV footage. He went behind the hospital to drink alcohol at 11 pm on Friday night. Accused criminal tampered with evidence after the incident
After this, at 4 in the morning he was seen entering the chest medicine department from the back door. After this, he was seen coming out of the seminar hall at around 4.45 pm.
