On the other hand, the BJP has made it an election issue ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. At a Maharashtra election rally on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at the Congress party over the proposal to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and said the Congress Neither party leader Rahul Gandhi nor his descendants could do this. Restore Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

In this context, the BJP started attacking the Congress for passing a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for the abrogation and restoration of Articles 370 and 35A.
After the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference government led by Omar Abdullah was formed. The National Conference government in its first cabinet approved the proposal to grant statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, which was also approved by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. In this regard, the People’s Democratic Party, People’s Conference, AIP and other political parties accused the National Conference of reneging on its promises.
Proposal to restore Section 370 causes uproar
But there was an uproar when the National Conference tabled a proposal to restore Article 370 in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Parliament passed the resolution on Friday after three days of uproar. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was abuzz on the third day. The Speaker had to expel 12 opposition MPs and Langate MLA Sheikh Khurshid from the House. Meanwhile, BJP MPs have created an uproar, accusing the National Conference of manipulating Pakistan’s agenda.
Only time will tell to what extent the agitation in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over the restoration of Article 370 will impact the politics of the Union Territory, but the effects of this agitation are being seen in the country’s politics. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, they have started fiercely attacking the Congress over the restoration of Article 370. The issue was raised at election rallies in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, with the Congress also being targeted.
Congress targeted, accused of conspiracy
There is currently a National Conference-Congress coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, and while the Congress externally supports the Omar Abdullah government, both parties contested the elections together. When the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution to restore Article 370 to the Union Territory, the BJP targeted the Congress.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of withdrawal of Article 370 proposal at his first campaign rally for the Maharashtra Assembly elections and termed it a conspiracy by the Congress party. Attacking the Congress party at an election rally, the Prime Minister said the people of Maharashtra should know about the Congress conspiracy in Jammu and Kashmir. He made it clear that the people of the country will never accept this proposal on Article 370. Congress cannot do anything in Kashmir as long as Modi is around. Only Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s constitution is valid in Jammu and Kashmir and there is no power to restore Article 370.
Union Minister Amit Shah also attacked the Congress on the issue of revoking Article 370 while addressing a campaign rally for the assembly elections in Sangli, western Maharashtra. Amit Shah said neither Congress leader Rahul Gandhi nor his progeny could restore Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Article 370 becomes issue in Maharashtra elections

Attacking the Congress at an election rally on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it should not pursue Pakistan’s agenda. The Prime Minister accused the Congress of using separatist language. In this way, the Prime Minister brought the issue to the center stage in the Maharashtra elections and said that with the restoration of Article 370, the SCs, STs and OBCs of Jammu and Kashmir will again be deprived of the benefits of reservation , so Congress opposed reservation. Congress, meanwhile, is trying to remain isolated on the issue. Because Congress fears it may suffer losses in Maharashtra and Jharkhand over this issue.
Countering terrorist attacks and violence
However, Congress and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut kept attacking over the terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut expressed concern over the worsening situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Regarding the martyrdom of many soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has been deteriorating day by day since this government came to power ten years ago, especially after the abrogation of Article 370.
