October 13, 2024: Rajinikanth’s Vitayan The box office continued to post decent numbers, but didn’t quite live up to expectations. The film earned a whopping Rs 30 crore at the box office on its first day and was expected to maintain its momentum, but failed to cross the Rs 30 crore mark again on the second and third days. While the film did well in Tamil Nadu, driven by Rajinikanth’s unparalleled stardom, it did not enjoy the same success in other regions like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where The poor performance affected the film’s overall box office.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vitayan Marks the much-anticipated reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan 33 years after they last collaborated snort (1991). However, the excitement surrounding the legendary duo has not translated into success in the Hindi market and the film is struggling to make an impact.

On the third day, Vitayan Slight growth, revenue of Rs 25-27 crore. With this, the film’s total net box office collection across all languages in India reached Rs 81-83 crore. It is expected to cross the Rs 100-crore mark by tomorrow, but from then on, it will need to make significant gains to ensure domestic success.
Although it performed well, the overall response of the film did not match the huge budget of Rs 300 crore, especially since Rajinikanth’s salary was reported to be Rs 125 crore.
