Wrestler sexual assault case
The hearing on the sexual harassment case against female wrestlers of the Wrestling Association was held at the Laws Avenue Courthouse in Deri. The court issued a subpoena to one victim for missing a hearing and ordered her to submit evidence to the court by November 14. In this case, a summons was also issued to the victim in advance.
The victim’s lawyer told the court she was currently out of the country and therefore unable to come here. She will travel overseas for a tournament next month and will miss the next two months. In response, the Delhi Police appealed to the court to issue a summons to him. The court accepted the police request and ordered the victim to record a statement in court before November 14.
Brijbhushan’s lawyers protest
During the court hearing, Brigitte Bhushan’s lawyer protested that all female wrestlers who have made accusations can only make statements in court in front of Brigitte Bhushan Singh. If this does not happen, the statement should be recorded before his attorney.
A court allowed former wrestling association chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh to renew his passport. With court permission, Singh can now renew his passport.
Appoint new lawyer
The court scheduled the next hearing on the case on November 14. Today, two of the wrestlers victimized in the case have a new attorney appointed to represent them.
In this case, the court filed sexual harassment charges against Brij Bhushan Singh on May 10. When the charges were filed in court, it was said that he was convicted in a case under IPC Section 354A (i.e. sexual harassment) and Section 354 (i.e. insult of woman).
Former wrestling association president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accused of sexual harassment by six wrestlers including Olympic wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik. Following this, the Delhi Police registered a case against him on a court order.
