Congress workers, leaders and MLAs in Karnataka are protesting against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot after he ordered an inquiry into the MUDA case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The situation is such that an MLC of the party even warned that if the Governor does not withdraw his order, he will have to flee Karnataka like Sheikh Hasina.

Congress MLAC Ivan D’Souza cited Bangladesh, “where PM Sheikh Hasina had to leave her post and the country. She announced that next time she will go directly to the Governor’s Office to protest. Just like the protesters in Bangladesh entered the PM House. It was done and the PM had to leave his house, post and country.

“Governor will have to flee Karnataka”, Congress MLC

In fact, the Governor has ordered an investigation into a case of alleged corruption against the CM, in which there is some case of land misappropriation. The Congress MLC said, “If the Governor does not withdraw his order or the President does not ask him to withdraw it, the same fate will happen as in Bangladesh where the Prime Minister had to flee the country, and here in Karnataka the Governor will have to flee”, and That is, “The next protest is to go to the Governor’s office.”

What is the MUDA issue?

In the MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) case, it is alleged that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati was allotted 14 land-pieces in exchange of her underdeveloped land-piece, which was acquired by the authority. In this controversy, the CM is accused of corruption and misuse of power. It is being claimed that this alleged scam is worth Rs 4000-5000 crore.

Governor ordered investigation into the matter

Siddaramaiah has challenged the order of investigation given by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot in the High Court. In a writ petition, he sought quashing of the inquiry order, saying the decision was politically motivated and unjust. He insisted on his innocence and said that there was no history of corruption in his 40-year political career.
