Be it boyfriend-girlfriend or husband-wife, a person is bound to be shattered when he is cheated in the relationship. And if you are the one who gets punished after being cheated, then what can be worse than this? In fact, a similar case has come to light in China recently. Here a man named Fan was sent to jail for exposing his own wife’s affair.

Cameras were installed even in the bedroom

The couple had been married for years and had two children but recently Fan suspected his wife of having an affair with another man. To clear his doubts, he installed hidden cameras in the house from the living room to the bedroom. Within a week, some bitter truths came before his eyes. In the camera footage of his absence, he saw that a man used to come to meet his wife and they were having an affair.

First I got cheated and then I had to suffer the consequences

Fan prepared this footage to present as evidence in court to get a divorce from his wife. But little did he know that this would cost him dearly. In February 2022, Fan called his wife and her lawyer for divorce talks, but they could not reach an agreement. So Fan filed a civil suit for civil damages against the spouse. Little did he know that his wife was more prepared than him. The woman went to a local police station and accused her husband of invading her privacy by installing hidden cameras around the house without her consent.

The court sentenced the husband to 3 years imprisonment

Fan’s wife eventually filed a case against him. As a result, the court sentenced Fan to 3 years in prison for secretly installing cameras in the house without any valid reason.

Fan appealed against the verdict, but the Taoyuan High Court recently rejected his appeal and upheld the original verdict. Mr. Fan will now have to spend 3 years in prison for catching his wife cheating on him in their family home. This strange case has sparked a fierce debate on Taiwanese and Chinese social media about the boundaries between privacy and gathering evidence of cheating in a relationship, as well as the impact of modern technology on family-related issues.
