The Deputy Director of Uttar Pradesh Health Department in Kanpur died by drowning while taking a bath in the Ganga river. His body was being searched for the last 9 days. On Monday morning, a team of divers recovered his body. The body was recovered from the Ganga Barrage.

The body recovered from Ganga Barrage is of Aditya Vardhan Singh, Deputy Director in the Health Department. At present, the body has been sent to Nawabganj police station for post-mortem. Officials said that the body will be brought to the village only after the post-mortem. After this, the last rites will be performed at Nanamau Ghat.

The deputy director drowned because his friends did not have Rs 10,000

The deputy director had gone to take a bath in the Ganga in Kanpur with his friends. During this, while taking a photo while bathing, he started drowning. His friends asked for help from the divers present there. But the divers said to give 10 thousand rupees first. However, his friends did not have 10 thousand rupees in cash. After which the divers asked them to transfer the money to a shop located nearby. By the time the friends transferred the money, the deputy director had drowned.

He was being searched for the last 9 days. After a week of the incident, the family members had also given up hope of finding the body. Apart from this, the officers engaged in the rescue also did not have any hope of finding the body of the Deputy Director.

Deputy director’s wife is a judge

Shailja Mishra, wife of Aditya Vardhan Singh, deputy director of UP health department, who drowned at Nana Mau Ghat in Kanpur, is a judge in Maharashtra. While his cousin Anupam Singh is a senior IAS in Bihar and is the secretary of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Aditya’s sister is abroad, his parents also live with his sister. On hearing the news of the Deputy Director’s demise, all the family members have reached home.
