The US Secret Service faced embarrassment when its agents vandalized a salon in Massachusetts to allow Vice President Kamala Harris to go to the bathroom before the event. All this action was captured in the CCTV cameras installed there. According to Fox News report, the agency had to apologize to the salon owner, who did not allow them to use his bathroom.

This incident happened on July 27, when Kamala Harris was holding a fund raising event here after becoming the probable Democratic candidate and the Secret Service was responsible for the security arrangements here. Alicia Powers, owner of Four One Three Salon in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, told Business Insider that Secret Service agents taped her security cameras and broke the lock to enter her building.

Security alarm keeps ringing

Security footage showed a Secret Service agent taping the camera and four people later entering the salon without permission. The salon’s security alarm kept going off during the incident. Powers said she closed her salon at the request of the Secret Service, which had investigated the bombings earlier this week.

The owner alleged that on the day of the incident, several people, including people dressed in emergency medical services uniform and state police uniform, entered the salon without permission to use the bathroom. “There were people coming in and out for about an hour and a half – they were just using my bathroom, the alarm was going off, they were using my counter, and that too without permission,” he said.

Powers further alleged that after the agents and others left, they left the building unlocked and did not remove the tape from the cameras. The building’s landlord, Brian Smith, also confirmed that no one had given permission to Secret Service agents to enter the premises.

Secret Service had to apologize

The Secret Service acknowledged the incident and apologized to Powers. A spokesman said agency personnel would not enter any establishment without the permission of the owner. However, the agency did not deny that an agent had placed tape on the security camera lens. Powers received an apology from the Secret Service’s Boston office, but he is troubled by the lack of respect for his business.

She said, “Anyone who came to visit, whether they were a celebrity or not, I would probably open the door and make them coffee and bring them donuts to make their day wonderful. But couldn’t he have allowed it? He just helped himself. .”
