On Monday, a madman attacked an innocent girl and a woman with a knife in the busy Leicester Square of Central London. This attack created chaos in London’s biggest tourist centre. However, the police acted swiftly and arrested the accused attacker from the spot. The Metropolitan Police said that there is currently no terrorism link to this incident.

Leicester Square is the biggest tourist center of London, where a large number of tourists come. This place is one of the busiest tourist centers of the British capital. The security guard of a shop present there told the media that the attacker attacked an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman with a knife. Due to which both of them got injured.

According to eyewitnesses, after the attack, the security guards disarmed the attacker as soon as they heard the screams. Police arrived at the scene and the victims were treated at the scene and then taken to hospital. Doctors say his injuries are not life-threatening.

The Met Police said in a statement on social media that officers were at the scene of a knife attack in Leicester Square. One person has been arrested and is being detained and interrogated. They do not think there is anything suspicious.

Both victims, an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital, police said. The 11-year-old girl will require hospital treatment, but her injuries are not life-threatening. The second victim suffered minor injuries. So far there is no clue that this incident is related to terrorism.

Eyewitness Abdullah, who works at the TWG tea shop in Leicester Square, said he heard screams and saw a man stabbing a child. He jumped on him, caught hold of the hand in which he was holding the knife, and threw him to the floor and, holding him, snatched the knife from him.

He told ‘Sky News’ that then some other people also joined in and we held him until the police arrived, it took maybe three to four minutes for the police to arrive and then they took him into custody. A napkin soaked in blood and other scattered items could be seen on the sidewalk.

Leicester Square and the surrounding area, home to shops, theatres, cinemas and restaurants, are visited by millions of people every week. After the incident, a police cordon was imposed near the popular Lego and M&M store in the square. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.

The spokesperson said that his team treated a child and an adult at the scene and then took them to a major trauma center. The incident comes two weeks after three little girls were stabbed to death at a dance workshop held during the children’s holidays in Southport, north-west England.
