Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda
Amid the hubbub of the one-nation-one election, BJP president JP Nadda made an important statement. Nadda said that the One Nation, One Election Bill was introduced to prevent the abuse of Article 356. Article 356 relates to Presidential Rule, which is implemented by the Center on the advice of the Governor.
Nadda said during the debate on the Constitution in the Federal House that in view of the history of repeated abuse of Article 356 by successive Congress governments, the government decided to introduce the One Nation, One Election Bill.
In his speech, Nadda accused Congress of trying to change the spirit of the constitution and rewrite it.
Nadda further said that today you are against one country and one election. It is because of you that a country and an election are held. Because from 1952 to 1967, elections were held simultaneously across the country. You (Congress) have repeatedly used Article 356 to overturn the elected governments of various states, creating a situation where many states hold separate elections.
Indira used it 50 times while Manmohan used it 10 times.
JP Nadda, while presenting the figures of Article 356 to the House, said that the Congress government had used it 90 times. Indira Gandhi used Article 356 maximum 50 times. During this time he also mentioned Indira’s emergency situation.
Nadda further said that the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru abused Article 356 eight times, Rajiv Gandhi nine times and Manmohan Singh abused Article 356 ten times.
Mention of Manmohan, Gujral and Advani
In his speech in Parliament, Nadda said that Manmohan Singh and Inder Kumar Gujral from West Pakistan became the Prime Minister of India, and Advani also came from West Pakistan and became the Deputy Prime Minister of India, but you will It was surprising to find out that PoK A people from Jammu and Kashmir could not become members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He was unable to participate in the jury elections. That person wasn’t even allowed to vote.
Nadda further said that the Narendra Modi government corrected this mistake and today Jammu and Kashmir has become an integral part of India.
