That policeman of ‘Sarfarosh’, who yearned for work for years, did a call from Aamir change his fate?

Actor Mukesh Rishi seems to be missing from the film industry these days. Mukesh is known for his character Police Inspector Salim in the film ‘Sarfarosh’. This film of Aamir Khan was a big hit in its time. In a recent interview, Mukesh told that the film ‘Sarfarosh’ has been the most memorable film of his career so far.

Mukesh narrated the story
While sharing an incident related to the film, Mukesh said- When the film was released, I had gone to my home in Jammu. I also wanted to have darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. So I thought I would leave. Thought that after this film I would get a lot of offers. When I went for darshan, Aamir Khan must have called me, but due to network problem, he did not come to me. Later I was told that Aamir Khan was trying to call me, but the phone was not received.

In a conversation with Radio Nasha, Mukesh Rishi said- I called Aamir Khan after having darshan. Aamir said- Where are you? I said- I am in Jammu. Aamir said- You should have been here in Mumbai. I could not understand at that time, later I realized that Aamir had said the right thing. But at that time I had no sense of business or films.

Mukesh told that after the release and success of the film, Aamir Khan had organized a party at his house, where he was also invited. At that time Mukesh got a chance to meet many people from the industry. Mukesh thought that now work will start coming to him. He has met so many people, someone will definitely give him work. If you attend parties while being in the film industry, it benefits you and your career a lot.

Mukesh told that not in the film industry, but yes, my career got a push after ‘Sarfarosh’. Not Hindi, but I started getting a lot of offers from South films. Mostly they were negative roles. This was shocking and surprising for me because I had played the role of a good person in Aamir’s film. But I was getting offers for the role of villain. I have played many roles in my career, but I still remember the respect I got from ‘Sarfarosh’.
