The British continued to rule the Indians with a well-thought-out strategy of ‘divide and rule’. Then, while leaving India, such division was created which has spread like a canker in the heart of Mother India. Whenever we talk about the days before independence i.e. Independence Day of Pakistan, then we remember the breaking of the country into two parts and the loss of many lives of millions of citizens…

Historians say that the British divided India and Pakistan very hastily. At that time, the last Governor General Lord Mountbatten wanted that the two countries should somehow be divided so that their internal strength becomes weak. He was not at all concerned about the citizens of India and Pakistan. He was in a hurry to expel British troops from India by any means. Not only this, the British officer Cyril Radcliffe, who drew the line of division between the two countries, had come to India only a few weeks ago. Without understanding the religious and cultural situation, they created two countries by drawing a line.

Pakistan got independence on 14 August

This one line drawn by Cyril Radcliffe created a never ending gap between the Hindus and Muslims of the two countries. The British declared Pakistan an independent country on 14 August 1947 and India celebrated independence on 15 August 1947. But 14th August was a very bad day for India. This was the day when lakhs of people were migrating from here to Pakistan and at the same time lakhs of people from Pakistan were leaving for Lahore. This was a period of such rumors that humanity was put to shame by riots, looting, indecency with women and massacres.

India saw bad times

The British government had handed over the happiness of independence to India at the cost of partition. On August 14, India and Pakistan were divided into two parts. Even on the morning of 15th August, these people were going from their motherland to another country by trains, horses-mules and on foot. It seemed as if all the colors were missing from the faces of those coming from Pakistan to India and from India to Pakistan. These people, with bundles on their heads, barefoot, ragged, with the biggest tragedy of their lives in their eyes, were somehow searching for their existence between two countries.
