A day after terror attacks in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, the army on Saturday said Pakistani terrorists deliberately targeted local people to create an atmosphere of fear in Kashmir. The attack killed four people, including two Indian soldiers and two local porters.

According to the army, two of the four killed were soldiers and two were Kashmiri Muslims working as porters for the army. According to the Defense Ministry in Srinagar, Pakistani terrorists launched a cowardly attack on an army unit with the intention of destroying peace and stability in Kashmir.
An Army spokesman said alert soldiers retaliated quickly and decisively and the terrorists were forced to flee, leaving behind a weapon and taking advantage of the dense forest.
Two brave soldiers were killed in the attack, the news agency reported. The dead included Rifleman Kaizer Ahmed Shah of Anantnag and Rifleman Jeevan Singh of Sirsa, Haryana.
