The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played between India and Australia on November 22 in Perth. After this Test match is over, another big series will begin. Interestingly, this series will be played in Australia’s neighboring country, New Zealand. The England team will then travel to New Zealand for a tour, and the two teams will start their first test match on November 28. In such a situation, the hosts New Zealand announced this three-match Test series. Former captain Kane Williamson returns to New Zealand Test squad.
Kane has recovered from a back injury that missed New Zealand’s tour of India but has now been part of the squad against England. Meanwhile, all-rounder Nathan Smith has been included in the Test squad for the first time. Uncapioned seamer Jacob Duffy is also in the squad, while Bear Sears and Kyle Jamieson are missing through injury. Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, who took 13 wickets in Pune, has been included in the squad for the second and third Tests in Wellington and Hamilton. The first test will be held in Christchurch on November 28.
The addition of new faces to the team
Smith, 26, made his international debut in the first ODI against Sri Lanka earlier this week. In the Plunket Shield last season, he was the leading wicket-taker with 33 wickets at an average of 17.18. With such outstanding performance, he was awarded a central contract in September. Ajaz Patel, who took 15 wickets against India, was not included in the squad, meaning his record of taking all 85 Test wickets away from home remains unchanged for the time being. This Test series has a total of 3 games and will be Tim Southee’s last Test series. He will bid farewell to Test cricket thereafter. However, he will be available for selection once New Zealand reaches the World Trade Center finals.
