Terrorists are once again trying to spread terror in Jammu and Kashmir. This is believed to be part of a carefully planned strategy from the day the area was attacked. On Sunday, the international-level Kashmir Marathon was held for the first time in Srinagar. Late at night, Pakistan-backed terrorists opened fire indiscriminately in Gaganjir, 20 kilometers away, leaving workers bleeding. Currently, TRFs, targeted killings and Pakistan’s new terror map have emerged as new tensions facing security agencies.
Let us tell you that tunnel construction on Srinagar-Leh National Highway Ganderbal is underway. On Sunday night, masked terrorists came here to launch an attack. A doctor and six workers died. Four people were also injured. The terrorists carried out the attack as workers and other employees were returning to the camp. Security agencies said they were gathering important evidence about the terrorists involved in the attack.
Security agency Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Monday busted the recruitment module of the new terror outfit ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim’ in Kashmir. The group is considered an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The base is allegedly operated by a Pakistani terrorist operator named Baba Hamas.
Trying to show Kashmir is disturbed
This is not the first time that terrorists have carried out targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists have been hatching a grand conspiracy to spread terror in peaceful areas such as Jammu region and Sonamarg for a long time. People are gradually realizing that behind the Ganderbal terror attack was an attempt to show the world that Kashmir was disturbed. The terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba was involved in the entire attack. The organization has now been renamed the Resistance Front, or TRF.
Attempts to spread terror through targeted killings
TRF terrorists continue to try to carry out targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack that took place late Sunday night had the sole purpose of spreading terror. Be it Kashmiri… Be it non-Kashmiris… Be it Hindu or Muslim… 5 of the 12 victims of the attack were from Jammu and Kashmir. Dr Shahnawaz, who lost his life, was a resident of Naidgam in Budgam and worked with a construction company in UP which was building a tunnel connecting Budgam to Sonmarg. The injured Mushtaq Ahmed Lone was a resident of Preng in nearby Kangan district. The injured Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat was a resident of Safapora. Apart from this, the deceased Shashi Abrol was a designer and a resident of Jammu. The injured Jagtar Singh is a resident of Kathua.
It is obvious that the terrorists did not see any Kashmiris or non-Kashmiris when they fired their bullets…they tried to kill anyone they found. His target was not non-Kashmiris but the advancement of Indian Kashmir.
What was the strategy behind the attack?
In fact, the Z Mod Tunnel project is almost complete, but 10 kilometers away, Asia’s longest tunnel is under construction. The Zojila Tunnel… will connect Srinagar to Leh and will be open throughout the year. As a result, the Indian Army’s actions against China and Pakistan will be more rapid and specific. The Gaganjir attack is also seen as a Pakistani conspiracy to delay the construction of the Zojila Tunnel. Apparently, Pakistan does not care about Kashmiris. Regardless, the people of Jammu and Kashmir completed the elections in a peaceful and historic manner, giving a resounding slap to the Pakistani terrorists. In his rage, he completed the attack.
The new strategy of Pakistan and terrorist groups to spread terror in Jammu and Kashmir is extremely worrying. Especially in peaceful areas like Jammu region and Sonamarg, there has been an increase in targeted killings and terrorist activities. Terrorist groups aim not only to create violence and instability but also to undermine development efforts, political processes and socio-economic progress in the region. The strategy behind this can be understood from 5 key points.
1. Spread unrest to the grassroots and target development work
The main objective is to create an atmosphere of instability and fear in the peaceful areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Efforts are being made to increase the insecurity of the people, especially through attacks on civilians and security forces. The terrorist organization TRF (Resistance Front) and its affiliates are engaging in planned targeted killings, which are somewhat like surgical strikes.
Terrorists frequently target infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, power projects, and government facilities. The goal is to slow down the country’s development rather than improve people’s living standards. By blocking development projects, these organizations hope to create distrust of the government among local people and thereby present government policies and progress in a negative light.
2. The emergence of TRF and its attempts to disrupt peaceful areas
TRF is a terrorist organization supported by Pakistan and presents itself as an independent entity. The aim is to incite local militants and recruit new terrorists. The TRF was formed to divert attention from direct intervention by Pakistan. This strategy attempts to downplay and localize terrorist attacks to reduce global pressure and present them as local insurgencies.
As peace and stability return to many parts of Kashmir, terrorist groups hope to create an atmosphere of fear and instability by launching fresh attacks in these areas. The main goal is also to prevent locals and investors from trusting these areas, thereby affecting recovery and economic activity. Terrorist groups and their supporters do not want the Kashmir peace process to succeed nor do they want political stability to emerge there. They are trying to undermine dialogue between political parties and local leaders so that no permanent solution can be found. Attacks are being attempted to show that the situation in Kashmir is abnormal and that political stability cannot be achieved.
3. Trying to stop tourism
Kashmir is a major tourist center due to its natural beauty. Terrorist groups seek to weaken the region’s economic status by attacking tourists and tourism infrastructure. Tourism has brought huge benefits to the local economy, and the cessation of tourism has adversely affected people’s livelihood. Therefore, terrorist groups try to show tourists that Kashmir is not safe.
4. Efforts to build regional and local network in Jammu in target
The Jammu region has so far been considered relatively peaceful. The area is now a target of terrorist attacks. An attack here is also important for terrorists because of its proximity to important strategic bases of the Indian Army and religious sites such as the Amarnath pilgrimage site. Efforts are being made to increase terrorist incidents and weaken security systems, thus reducing public confidence.
Efforts are underway to use social media and modern technology to radicalize local youth. Pakistani-sponsored groups are recruiting these young men who are angry about unemployment or other reasons. This is a long-term strategy under which local terrorist networks are being established that remain integrated into local society and are able to escape the control of security forces.
5. Cross-border supply of arms and support for terrorism.
Pakistan continues to supply weapons via drones and other means. Terrorists are supported by smuggling materials such as counterfeit currency, weapons and drugs across borders.
This new strategy aims to weaken the capabilities of security agencies and perpetuate terrorism.
Terrorist groups hope to divide people by promoting social and religious divisions. In this way, they seek to undermine social interaction and harmony and prevent people from uniting in support of the peace process. The purpose of this strategy is to spread anti-government and discontent at the local level so that terrorists can gain local support.
What did Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha say?
