During this meeting, Rahul Gandhi said that ‘We were forced to take a political tour because the tools that usually work in democracy were not working. My work went very well at the political level, but as a person, at a personal level, I always wanted to do this. I wanted to do this since childhood. I always had this idea in my mind that I should travel around my country at some point in my life and see what it is. After this, Rahul Gandhi met US lawmakers at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington DC.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘After the yatra, I tried to become the voice of as many people as I could. For this, you have to understand what is really happening. You have to go deep into the agricultural sector, the struggles happening there, the financial system, and the tax system. You have to talk to people, and then after understanding their words deeply, present a viewpoint on a broad level. India Alliance’s vision for the country is going to be completely different from the centralized and monopolistic vision of the BJP.

There has been a big change in Indian politics since 2014
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described Bharat Jodo Yatra as a journey and not a change. He said that after 2014, there has been a big change in Indian politics. During a conversation in Washington DC, he said, “We have seen such aggressive politics which attacks our democratic structure. It has been a tough fight, but it has also been a good fight. A lot has changed personally too.”

India Alliance’s approach is different from BJP and RSS
He further said that the vision of the Congress and its allies for India is different from that of the BJP and the RSS. “We believe in pluralism, where all communities get an opportunity to progress, while the BJP and the RSS have a more rigid vision. 90% of India is made up of tribals, backward castes, Dalits and minorities, but the problem is their participation. Their presence in the media, corporate or government is very less. A minority group is controlling the country.”
