Taiwan advises China: “Don’t threaten, open arms to neighbors”

Taipei: Taiwan President Lai Ching-te made good suggestions to China at the end of his first overseas visit. He told China not to threaten, but to extend arms to its neighbors. He called for opening arms to neighboring countries rather than fighting Beijing in pursuit of peace. Let me tell you that Li Zhengde made his first overseas visit after taking office in May this year.

Zheng De made the remarks to reporters in the Pacific island nation of Palau on Friday. The comments come amid speculation that China will conduct military exercises around Taiwan in response to Mr. Cheng’s visit. He said, “No matter how many military exercises it conducts and how many warships and aircraft it uses to force neighboring countries, it (China) cannot win the respect of any country.”

China remains dissatisfied with Taiwan

The president’s comments came a day after China’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday announced sanctions on 13 U.S. companies and six officials in response to recent U.S. arms sales to Taiwan. He said: “As I said before, when authoritarian countries come together, democratic countries must also come together to ensure global and regional stability and development. Let us tell you, China has always been angry with Taiwan and believes that Taiwan It’s part of yourself (AP).
