CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passed away at the age of 72. Yechury was admitted to the hospital on 19 August due to pneumonia. He had recently undergone cataract surgery. He was also suffering from respiratory disease. He was kept on respiratory support at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
