Witchcraft suspected double murder: A couple was shot dead and beaten with sticks on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Jharkhand’s Selaikela-Hasawan district. So far, the police have arrested ten people involved, including a teenager. The incident took place on September 13 in Bijar village of Dalbhanga outpost.
Providing information about the sensational incident, a police team conducted raids and arrested the accused from different places in Kuchai area after receiving information, a local police officer told PTI.
The police officer further said that four to five people allegedly complained to Soma Singh Munda (46) and his wife Sejadi Devi for allegedly practicing witchcraft. ) (45) fired a gun. In this shooting, Soma Singh Munda died on the spot while Sejadi Devi was beaten to death with sticks due to a malfunction of the firearm.
Police officials said the victim’s 14-year-old son, Sanika Munda, managed to escape the attack and hid in a neighbor’s house. Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the true cause of the crime, but witchcraft may be the main reason. The search for the other defendants is still ongoing.
