Congress president Mallikarjun Haq, while addressing party workers and leaders, asked them to learn lessons from the results of the recently concluded assembly elections and strengthen their grassroots organization. Apart from this, he said that after its success in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party’s performance in the elections in three states was not as good as expected. Hager said many states had good vibes but poor performance.
Prioritizing mutual unity and discipline, mutual differences and rhetoric would weaken the party, the Congress president said. He urged workers to observe party discipline and remain united under all circumstances. “If Congress wins, everyone wins, if Congress loses, everyone loses,” Hager said. “The strength of the party is our strength.
Must have close knowledge of local issues
Hager emphasized that state elections cannot be won with help from national issues and big leaders alone. He said it was important to keep a close eye on the local issues in each state and develop specific strategies accordingly. Describing issues like unemployment, inflation, economic inequality as important issues, he said issues like caste census and social justice must also receive attention.
Requires micromanagement
Hager stressed the need for improved election administration. He said that it is not enough to create an environment, but also to learn to transform the environment into results. He said that it is necessary to strengthen the organization at the booth level, check the voter list and make preparations before counting the votes. He also said that election strategy should start at least a year in advance and the party should focus on micro-communications during the campaign.
The BJP also came under attack in the meeting
At the meeting, Haq launched a scathing attack on the BJP and said fascist forces were deepening their roots and trying to capture state institutions. He told party workers that it was the duty of the Congress to defeat the separatist forces and ensure restoration of brotherhood, peace and development in the country.
Workers need not be discouraged
Meanwhile, the Congress president stressed the need to restructure the party from the grassroots to the top. He said that there is no need to become discouraged by repeated defeats, but should learn from them and move forward with new determination. “We have faced challenges before and emerged victorious,” Hager said. “Over time, we will be able to make changes to overcome the current challenges.
