Former Jharkhand minister Saryu Rai has joined JDU. National working president of the party, Sanjay Kumar Jha has given this information on Sunday. Saryu Rai is an independent MLA from Jharkhand. JDU working president Sanjay Kumar Jha got him the membership of the party. Minister Ashok Choudhary, Shravan Kumar and Jharkhand JDU state president Khiru Mahato were also present on this occasion. Recently, Saryu Rai had met Nitish Kumar. At the same time, speculations were made about his joining JDU.

Now with Saryu Rai joining JDU, the party is now ready for alliance with BJP. JDU can now drive a hard bargain in Jharkhand. The inclusion of Bharatiya Janata Party chief and independent MLA Saryu Rai will help the party regain its lost glory in Jharkhand and increase its base here. Saryu Rai is MLA from Jamshedpur East. In 2019, he defeated current CM Raghuvar Das from his home ground.

JDU is part of NDA in Center and Bihar. Now JDU is preparing to put pressure on BJP to leave Jamshedpur East seat, because this is now the party’s sitting seat and its claim on this seat is natural. JDU had earlier decided to contest elections on 11 seats in Jharkhand in its National Working Committee and passed a resolution. In early July, a four-member committee was formed to screen the candidates.

JDU wants to regain its lost support base. It had contested 18 seats under the NDA in 2005 and won 6 seats with a vote percentage of 4%. Whereas in 2009 he had contested elections on 14 seats. It managed to win only 2 seats with 2.78% vote percentage. JDU continued to struggle and failed to win any assembly seat after 2014. It had also lost its organizational strength.

The new political development of Saryu Rai joining JDU has opened a new path and raised a new hope for JDU as it is expected to contest seats with BJP in the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand and pave the way for bargaining. Efforts are ongoing. BJP did not give place to both JDU and AJSU in 2019.
