Superfast connectivity to be available on flights too, Starlink video heightens tensions between Jio, Airtel

Starlink satellite broadband service is about to launch in India. Elon Musk’s company is waiting for a green signal from telecom regulators. The company may obtain the license once the satellite broadband spectrum allocation is completed. In addition to Elon Musk’s company, Amazon Kuiper joins Airtel OneWeb and Jio Satcom in the race to launch satellite broadband services in India. Satellite broadband services are likely to launch in India early next year.

Ultra-fast connections even on the fly

Elon Musk shared a 2-minute video from his official X account. In the video, online games are allegedly being played on the plane using Starlink’s broadband connection, suggesting that Starlink will also provide ultra-high-speed connectivity in flight. Musk wrote in the post that Starlink is so good that you can play real-time video games even while flying.

No lag of any kind is seen in the video shared by Elon Musk. In this case, users will not face any problem even while making video calls or holding online meetings. Starlink Broadband claims to be able to access the Internet at speeds of 250Mbps to 300Mbps, which is comparable to current wired broadband.

When will Starlink enter India?

Elon Musk’s company Starlink will launch satellite broadband services in India early next year. However, Starlink’s road in India will not be so smooth. According to recent reports, Starlink has not completed regulatory compliance and therefore has not yet obtained the NoC to launch services in India. Meanwhile, both Airtel and Jio have received NoCs from the Ministry of Telecommunications. These companies are just waiting for spectrum allocation.
