Work has come to a standstill in about 300 small banks. Due to ransomware attack, payment systems of hundreds of banks also appeared to have failed. According to reports, this cyber attack has happened on the company which provides technical support to all these small banks.
Payment system of 300 banks failed
On Thursday, a big news came about the Indian banking system. According to the Reuters report published on India Today, a ransomware attack was carried out on C-Edge Technologies company. This company provides technical support services to all the small banks of the country. In such a situation, the cyber attack on this company has directly affected about 300 banks associated with it. Due to this, glitches were also seen in the payment system of the banks involved in JD.
Company maintains silence on cyber attack!
Citing two sources directly related to the matter, the report said that C-Edge Technologies, which provides banking technical support to small banks across the country, has been badly affected by this cyber attack. However, no comment has been made by Sea-Edge Technologies regarding this cyber attack. No statement has been issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on this matter.
NPCI took this step in a hurry
However, taking cognizance of this cyber attack, the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the organization that oversees the payments system in India, has temporarily banned the work of this company. In a statement issued on Wednesday, NPCI has said that C-Edge Technologies has been banned for some time and this company will remain away from the retail payment system till further orders.
