Student Suicide: A 19-year-old engineering student committed suicide at NIT Patna. The body of Pallavi Reddy, a student from Andhra Pradesh, was found hanging in her hostel room. The police received information about the student’s suicide around 10:30 pm on Friday. Following the tragic incident, students rioted in the NIT campus late at night. Hundreds of students raised slogans near the NIT director’s residence. The police reached the spot and quelled the commotion. It is reported that a suicide note was also found in the student’s room.

The student is from Andhra Pradesh

Palli Reddy, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, had admitted to the B.Tech course at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna last year. The police were informed about the student’s suicide around 10.30 pm on Friday. City Superintendent of Police (West) Sharat RS said that the police received information around 10.30 pm on Friday that a second-year student of NIT Patna had hanged herself on a fan in her hostel room and the police and 112 call team rushed to the scene immediately. But the arrival was made. The student was first rushed to ESIC Hospital in Behta where doctors declared her brought dead. ”

Police found suicide note

He further said that the police has seized the body and sent it to Danapur Sub-divisional Hospital for postmortem. The family of the deceased student Pallavi Reddy has been informed about the incident and has come to Patna. The police investigation team is conducting a thorough investigation at the scene of the incident. A forensic team has been called to the spot to collect evidence. A suicide note has been recovered and we are confirming the same.”

Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra said that the student wrote in the suicide note that she was suffering from mental stress. He also mentioned his parents, brothers, teachers from his old school and college and expressed his gratitude to them. The police are investigating the case from all aspects and the real reason for the suicide can only be known after a thorough investigation. The matter will also be investigated by talking to two other girls who lived with the student.

Students protest on NIT campus after student commits suicide

The students blamed the college administration and said the security guards locked the room as soon as they received the information. “No one even checked his pulse,” said a student. “He could have been taken to a doctor immediately. We were not even allowed to enter the room.” The incident has caused panic among students of Bihta and NIT-Patna campus at Ashok Rajpath in the Pirbahol police station area. This is the second incident at the college in seven years and the first at the new campus in Bihta, where students were shifted only last month.
