We will maintain strict vigil to ensure that there is no incident when Uttar Pradesh celebrates Dhantras and Diwali. The state police chief has asked officials to deploy more personnel, activate drones and CCTV cameras and keep an eye on social media for any mischievous activity. Special security measures will be implemented in Ayodhya during Diwali. Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar directed officials to “keep a close watch on all dharamshalas, hotels, dhabas and lodges in the area” and investigate suspicious persons thoroughly.

According to a state government spokesperson, the city will celebrate the eighth birth anniversary of Dipotsav. The goal is to light 2.8 million earthen lamps on the banks of the Salyu River and set a world record. A special lamp-lighting ceremony is also planned at the Rama temple in Ayodhya. Lt Governor Kumar directed the police officers to maintain strict vigilance on all social media platforms and take immediate action against any misleading posts.

During a video conference with other police chiefs, commissioners, inspector general and inspector general of police, the IGP stressed the need for tight security. Kumar stressed that firecrackers should be kept away from densely populated areas and sold with adequate fire-fighting facilities. He also emphasized that there should be no more new customs and practices, and that the special monitoring list of anti-social elements should be updated.

Kumar directed senior officials to deploy adequate police and PAC personnel for intensive patrolling. He demanded that disputes be resolved locally and rapid response teams equipped with riot gear be formed in various districts. The statement said that special vigilance should be raised and police deployment should be carried out in crowded places such as train stations and bus stations, as well as in rivers, embankments and other places.
