In Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, a couple murdered an elderly woman and then cut her body into several pieces and threw it away. The accused couple is in police custody. It has come to light that 78 year old woman Vijaya lived in MGR Nagar area of Chennai.
The daughter had filed a missing complaint
On July 17, Vijaya had gone out for some work, when she did not return home, her daughter Lognayaki searched at many places. But no clue was found. After this, the daughter lodged a complaint about her mother’s disappearance at MGR Nagar police station on July 19. When the police started investigating the case, shocking facts came to light and then the accused couple was also caught.
Neighboring couple was suspected
According to the information, 78 year old Vijaya lived in MGR Nagar of Mylapore. She was a daily wage labourer. Vijaya did not return from work on 17th July. After this, his daughter Loganayagi lodged a complaint with MGR Nagar police on July 19. MGR Nagar police started investigation and after examining several CCTV footages, Vijaya’s neighbor Parthiban was suspected. He was called for questioning on July 23 but he did not come.
The couple confessed to the murder
Police tracked Parthiban’s cellphone signal, during which it came to light that he was hiding with his wife in Virudhunagar district. The couple has been arrested. Upon interrogation, Parthiban and his wife Sangeeta confessed to killing Vijaya.
Dead body pieces thrown into Adyar river
He said that both of them had caught the elderly woman stealing from her house. The shocking thing is that they strangled Vijaya and after killing her, cut her into pieces and tied the body parts in a sack. After this, the pieces were taken in a two-wheeler and the sack was thrown into the Adyar river. Police suspect that Vijaya may have been murdered for her jewelery and are waiting for the couple to be brought to Chennai for further investigation.
