The stock market has been down (stock market crash) since this morning. The stock market was trading low in the red initially, but this decline gradually intensified and soon Rs 1,000 crore of investors were wiped out of the market. Bank Nifty, small-cap and mid-cap indices declined the most. Nifty Bank fell over 1,100 points and Sensex fell 900 points. Apart from this, Nifty lost about 300 points and was trading below 24,100 points.
Investors lost Rs 1,000 crore!
Indian stocks have come under pressure in recent days on quarterly results and a continued exodus of foreign investors. Sensex and Nifty are falling every day. Today, small and mid-cap portfolios are crashing like a stock market tsunami. The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies fell by Rs 980 crore to Rs 43,510 crore. This means that in just one day, investors’ valuation fell by around Rs 1,000 crore.
The stock fell about 19%
In the morning, the Sensex was marginally higher at 80,187.34 points, having hit an intraday high of 80,253.19 points. However, by the close, the Sensex fell -663 points to close at 79,402.29 points. Nifty fell 218.60 points to close at 24,180.80, after opening at 24,418.05 this morning. Of the top 30 stocks on the BSE, 20 fell and 10 gained. IndusInd Bank shares fell 18.79% to Rs 1,038.

- Shares of IndusIndus Bank fell 18.79% to close at Rs 1,038.
- Poonawala Fincorp shares fell 17.19% to Rs 297.
- Dixon Technologies shares closed at Rs 13,937, down 7.43%.
- HPCL shares fell 8% and Patanjali Food shares fell 7%.
- Shares of Chennai Petro Corp, Hindustan Copper and Go Digit fell 6.5%.
- Among large-cap stocks, shares of Adani Green Solution and Adani Enterprises fell 5.84%.
- Shares of BPCL and Shriram Finance also fell around 5%.
Today, 101 stocks hit 52-week highs and 202 stocks hit 52-week lows. Out of 3857 shares, 606 shares were traded in green and 3146 shares were traded in red. About 105 shares were unchanged. The BSE midcap index fell 872.57 points and the BSE smallcap index fell 1,343 points to 52,300 points.
The BSE consumer durables index suffered the biggest decline, falling 2,300 points to 60,604 points, followed by the capital goods and automobile indices, which fell 2,021 points and 1,554 points respectively.
