The whole of Britain is shocked by the knife incident in London’s South Port city. Two children have died in this stabbing, while 11 people have been injured. The condition of 6 children remains critical. According to eyewitnesses, after the attack, blood soaked children were seen running to nearby hospitals.
This attack happened when these children were doing dance class. Except two youngsters, the age of all the others is said to be 6 to 11 years. A dance and yoga program based on singer Taylor Swift theme was being organized for them. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has strongly condemned this attack on social media.
This matter echoed in the British Parliament. Interior Minister Yvette Cooper has expressed grief over the accident. He said: “I just want to say that I know what happened in Southport is an extremely serious incident. The whole House is very concerned about it. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected.”
Merseyside County Police said that officers were informed of the attack in Southport. The police called it a major incident but also said that there is no major threat to the general public. Police have not linked it to terrorism. A 17 year old accused has been arrested.
He lives in Cardiff, a village about 8 kilometers away from the attack site. A knife has been confiscated from him. However, what was the motive of the attack is not yet clear. But the way children have been attacked with knives. It is not only a matter of concern but has also become a serious matter.
After this attack, a person running a shop near the dance class said that he saw 7 to 10 children running away covered in blood. He has suffered serious injuries. They were all running towards a community centre. There classes are offered for pregnant women, infants and children.
