SSC CGL 2024 Exam Day Guidelines: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has started the Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) Tier-1 recruitment examination in various central ministries, departments and organizations from today. SSC CGL Tier-1 for direct recruitment will be conducted from 9 September to 26 September 2024, while Tier 2 of the SSC CGL exam will be conducted in the month of December.

SSC CGL Reporting Time

The SSC CGL Tier-1 exam will be held in four shifts. The first shift will be from 9 am to 10 am, the second shift will be from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm, the third shift will be from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm and the fourth shift will be from 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm. Candidates have been instructed to report to the exam center one hour before the start of the exam.

The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam consists of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. Each section consists of 25 questions, each carrying two marks, making a total of 100 questions and 200 marks. Candidates have one hour to complete the exam. Additionally, there is negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer. Candidates who qualify in Tier 1 will appear for the Tier 2 exam.

Minimum Passing Marks

The minimum qualifying marks in SSC CGL Tier-I is 30 per cent for unreserved, 25 per cent for OBC and EWS candidates and 20 per cent for all other categories.

SSC CGL Exam 2024 Day Guidelines: Keep these things in mind on the day of exam

  • Reach the examination centre mentioned on your admit card at least 60 minutes in advance to avoid any last minute delays.
  • Make sure to carry a printout copy of your SSC CGL Admit Card 2024 with you at the examination center. Without this, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
  • Keep at least two recent passport size photographs with you.
  • Carry an original, valid identity proof such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, PAN Card or Passport along with passport size photo. These documents are mandatory for entry into the exam centre.
  • If your photo ID does not have your date of birth, you will have to bring additional documents like your Class 10th certificate, mark sheet, birth certificate, etc.
  • Inside the examination hall, candidates are not allowed to carry mobile phones, pagers, smartwatches or other electronic gadgets. These items are prohibited and if caught, they may result in cancellation of candidature as well as legal action.

What after Tier-1?

Candidates who qualify in Tier-1 will appear for Tier-2 and those who qualify in it will be called for document verification and medical test. Candidates who will be shortlisted on the basis of these stages will be appointed to Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ posts in various ministries, departments, organizations of the Government of India and various constitutional, statutory bodies and tribunals.

Around 17,727 vacancies

Let us tell you that the SSC CGL recruitment process is being conducted to fill about 17,727 vacancies in various departments. The application process for the exam started on June 24 and ended on July 27. The application process included filling the details of the candidates, uploading the required documents and paying the application fee. Candidates had the option to pay the application fee online or offline as per convenience.
