Sri Lankan President Anura Kumar Dissanayake arrived in India on Sunday for a three-day visit, his first foreign visit since assuming the top job in September, and met with Foreign Minister Sanayak . Talks were held with Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold discussions with Sri Lankan leaders today, which are expected to focus on trade, investment, energy and maritime security.
Dissanayake is believed to have discussed issues involving the overall bilateral relations, including how to strengthen strategic ties between the two neighbours, during separate talks with Jaishankar and Doval.
Discussion with Jaishankar and Ajit Doval
Dissanayake said in a post on X that S. had meaningful discussions with Jaishankar and Ajit Doval on issues of mutual interest. Let us tell you that at Delhi Airport, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan welcomed Dissanayake.
Emphasis on deepening India-Sri Lanka relations
In a post on the social media platform, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared a photo of the federal minister welcoming President Dissanayake and said: “A warm and special welcome!”
The President will also meet Draupadi Murmu
The Sri Lankan leader will also meet Dessanaya President Draupadi Murmu. Dissanayake is also scheduled to attend a business event in Delhi to promote investment and business ties between India and Sri Lanka. He also plans to visit Bodh Gaya.
