Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi interacted with students at the University of Texas in Dallas, USA. During this, he also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party and the RSS. Rahul Gandhi said, “The RSS believes that India is an idea and we believe that India is a plurality of ideas. We believe that everyone should be allowed to participate, allowed to dream and should be given a place regardless of their caste, language, religion, tradition or history.”
He said that this fight became even more clear in the elections, when millions of people of India understood that the Prime Minister of India (Narendra Modi) is attacking the Constitution of India. Whatever I have told you, it is all in the Constitution. The Constitution is the foundation of modern India.
“Our first task is to provide relief to women….”
Speaking about Indian women, Rahul Gandhi said, “I believe in women empowerment, ensuring women get opportunities in business, supporting them financially if they want to start their own business and making participation easier for women. Women have many issues which we need to address to enable their participation. The first step is to see women as equal to men, accept that they can do everything that a man can do and recognise their strength.”
Rahul Gandhi further said that this is part of the ideological conflict between BJP and us. BJP and RSS believe that women should be confined to traditional roles – staying at home, cooking and speaking less. We believe that women should have the freedom to do whatever they want to do.

“People understood in the elections that BJP…”
Rahul Gandhi said, “What people understood clearly in the elections and I saw that when I raised the issue of the Constitution, people understood what I was saying. They were saying that the BJP is attacking our tradition, attacking our language, attacking our states, attacking our history.”
Rahul stressed that the most important thing is that they (people) understood that whoever is attacking the Constitution of India is also attacking our religious tradition. That is why you must have seen in my first speech in Parliament when I talked about Abhaya Mudra, when I was saying that the fact that it is a symbol of fearlessness and it is present in every Indian religion, the BJP could not tolerate it.

“Achievements of the people of India …”
Rahul Gandhi said that the second thing that happened was that the fear of BJP disappeared. We saw that immediately after the election results came out, within a few minutes, no one in India was afraid of BJP or the Prime Minister of India.
Rahul Gandhi further said that therefore these are great achievements, not of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party. These are great achievements of the people of India, who realized democracy, the people of India realized that we will not accept an attack on our constitution. We will not accept an attack on our religion, our state.
