SpaceX has launched its new mission Polaris Dawn on 10 September 2024 i.e. today. The launch was done from Cape Canaveral. The help of Falcon-9 rocket was taken in this. This is a historic mission. On September 12, under this mission, for the first time, ordinary citizens going on a private trip from a private company will do a Civilian Spacewalk.

In the Polaris Dawn mission, four people will go into space in the Dragon Crew Capsule. The names of these passengers are – Commander Jared Isaacman, Pilot Scott ‘Kid’ Poteet, Mission Specialist Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon. Isaacman is an entrepreneurial rich man. He is also funding this mission.

Poteet is a former lieutenant colonel of the US Air Force. Gillis and Menon are both SpaceX engineers. Isaacman and Gillis will do a private spacewalk for the first time. That is, they will walk in space. At this time the height of the Dragon capsule will be around 1400 km. This is the highest crew mission since the Apollo era.

This means that for the first time, the four astronauts will spend five days in space three times above the space station. Such a mission has never happened before. There will be a spacewalk during these five days. Also, Starlink internet will also be tested in space. Potit, Gillis and Menon have gone to space for the first time. Isaacman went to space in the Inspiration 4 mission in September 2021.

The launch of this mission was postponed three-four times

The launch of Polaris Dawn mission was scheduled for 26 August. It was postponed after a problem was found in the pre-flight checkup. Then the launch on 27 August was postponed due to helium leak. The plan was made for 28th but the weather did not cooperate. SpaceX wrote on its X handle that the weather is not good at the place where the Dragon spacecraft will fall in the sea near Florida. Therefore the launch was postponed.
