Sonam Wangchuk on 16th day of fast in Delhi says this is a silent fast, not a protest

Sonam Wangchuk has been fasting for two weeks. He walked from Ladakh to Delhi demanding inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, of which Monday was the 16th day of fast for him and his supporters. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk wrote on Sunday as the fast turns 15: “In villages from Ladakh, which borders China and Pakistan, to Leh, hundreds of people came to Delhi to join We, but they were forced into buses and taken away”.

Fasting and silence are not a protest

Apart from this, Wangchuck also urged the people of Delhi to join Ladakh Bhawan’s ‘Maun Vrat’ on Sunday to save the Himalayas and the environment. Around 25 Ladakhis have been on an indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Ladakh Bhawan since October 6. He demanded a meeting with important leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per his request.
