Now Rajasthan government has announced a big relaxation regarding Agneepath Recruitment Scheme. In Rajasthan, retired firefighters will get reservation in other government jobs including State Police. Earlier, many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat have announced reservation for firefighters.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced reservation for firefighters in the recruitment of jail, forest guards and state police. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also said that when Agniveer returns after his service, he will be given the facility of adjustment in UP Government Police Service and PAC on priority basis. A fixed reservation facility will be provided for them in Uttar Pradesh Police.

Madhya Pradesh also announced reservation

The opposition is continuously opposing the Agneepath recruitment scheme. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, India Bloc had promised in its manifesto that if they come to power, they will abolish the Agneepath Scheme. On the other hand, many state governments are announcing reservation for firefighters after serving in the army.

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, CM Mohan Yadav had also announced to give reservation to Agniveer soldiers in police and state armed forces. Mohan Yadav said, ‘Today on the occasion of Kargil Day, our government has decided that as per the wish of the illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Agniveer soldiers will be given reservation in the recruitment of police and armed forces.’ Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced 10 percent quota and five years of age relaxation for firefighters.

Exemption will also be available in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also wrote in his tweet that ‘Gujarat government will give priority to firefighters in the recruitment of Armed Police and SRP’. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai also said that the Chhattisgarh government will give special reservation to fire warriors. After serving in the army, these soldiers will be able to join various forces of the state government. He said that for this, definite guidelines for reservation will be issued soon.

Uttarakhand CM also announced

Recently, the Union Home Ministry had decided to reserve 10 percent posts in the central paramilitary forces for former firefighters. The Central Government has announced to give 10 percent reservation to former firefighters in the Central Armed Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles. Under this, former firefighters will get relaxation in age limit and physical test for the post of constable and rifleman.

The Dhami government of Uttarakhand has also announced to give reservation in state government jobs to the youth retiring under the Agneepath scheme. The Chief Minister has asked the officials to prepare a roadmap for this. Apart from this, a skill development scheme is also being prepared.

Haryana government will give 10 percent reservation

Earlier on July 17, the Haryana government had also announced 10 percent reservation in police and mine guard jobs for retiring firefighters. Also, it was announced to give 5 percent reservation in Group C. Apart from this, age relaxation of three years will be given for Group C and Group D posts. People wishing to start their own business will be given interest free loan up to Rs 5 lakh.

Center had announced exemption last year

In March last year, the Union Home Ministry had also announced 10 percent reservation for former firefighters in the recruitment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The ministry had also issued a notification giving information about relaxation in the upper age limit.

The ministry said that taking a similar decision regarding recruitment in BSF and CISF, the upper age limit will be relaxed by five years for the candidates of the first batch of former firefighters and by three years for the candidates of other batches.
