Fighters and members of the Lebanese and Syrian extremist group Hezbollah have been using pagers since they attacked Israel on October 7 last year. In order to avoid the radar of the Israel Defense Forces and the intelligence agency Mossad, Hezbollah members use pagers so that their location cannot be tracked.

How horrific was the attack?

Pagers that exploded in Lebanon and Syria. A beeping sound was heard for a few seconds before the explosion. Some pagers exploded while they were in pockets, while others exploded when they were taken out of pockets or bags after hearing the beeping sound. Many pagers exploded in people’s hands.

Eleven people were killed in the explosion, including a little girl. 4,000 people were seriously or moderately injured. Many people had injuries to their hands and legs. More than 500 people were blinded. Some people had torsos damaged, and some had their lower bodies blown off in the explosion.

Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, lost one eye and had another severely damaged. The victims included children of Lebanese lawmakers and family members of Hezbollah fighters who were also hit by the blast.

How did Mossad carry out the attack?

According to the New York Times, Israel installed explosives in these pagers as part of a Mossad intelligence operation against Hezbollah. Hezbollah ordered about 3,000 pagers from a Taiwanese company called Gold Apollo. But the pagers were tampered with before they arrived in Lebanon. The pagers were sent from Taiwan to Lebanon between April and May this year. It seems that the plot for this attack was carried out several months ago.

According to U.S. officials, the pagers were AP924 models from a Taiwanese company. Each of the pagers shipped from Taiwan to Lebanon was loaded with one to two ounces of explosives placed next to the batteries installed in the pagers.
According to reports, a message was received on the pagers at 3:30 pm in Lebanon. The message activated the explosives installed in the pagers.

Allegedly, a beeping sound was heard for a few seconds before the pager exploded. According to sources, Mossad actually injected a small plate inside the pager that contained explosives. This explosive would be difficult to detect with any equipment or scanner.

Mossad planted PETN explosives in pagers

According to Sky News Arabia, Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has planted PETN in Hezbollah’s pagers. This is actually an explosive that is used in pager batteries. These pagers are detonated by the increase in battery temperature. This explosive weighs less than 20 grams.
