There was a sensation when a dead body was found in a flat in Thane city of Maharashtra on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday. The dead body is said to be that of an elderly person. However, the cause of his death has not been revealed yet. Neighbors had complained about the strong foul smell coming from the flat. Now the police is investigating this matter.

Yasin Tadvi, head of the disaster management cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, said that a 60-year-old man, who was suffering from mental health problems, was found dead in the flat. However, the time and cause of his death are not yet known and the police is investigating the matter.

Giving information to PTI, Disaster Management Cell chief Yasin Tadvi said that the local fire station had received information at 12.26 am about a dead body being seen in a flat in Hans Nagar area near Siddheshwar Pond. After this, local fire personnel and team members of the Regional Disaster Management Cell reached the spot.

The employees and officers included in both the teams went to the flat and found a decomposed body lying in one of the rooms. Some neighbors had already opened the door of the room. Actually, the neighbors were smelling a strong odor coming from the flat, after which they broke the door of the apartment.

Yasin Tadvi said that after interrogating the neighbors the deceased has been identified. The deceased is said to be mentally ill. He told that Naupada police had also reached the spot within a few minutes. They have sent the body of the old man to the government hospital for post-mortem and have registered a case of accidental death in this regard. Further investigation is ongoing.
