Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Hospital, is currently lodged in Presidency Jail in Kolkata, where he has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the court. Since Tuesday, Ghosh has been spending days and nights alone in a cell in Presidency Jail. Ghosh, who lives a luxurious and lavish life outside, is spending his days in the jail like other ordinary prisoners. He has not received any special facility or VIP prisoner status from the jail authority.

According to sources, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh is currently staying in cell number 10 of 1/10 block of Presidency Jail. He has been kept completely alone. Other accused arrested in the RG Kar corruption case and their close associates have been kept in other cells of different blocks following the jail rules.

A jail source said, “Being a common prisoner, he has to sleep on the floor like other prisoners. He has been given three blankets, sheets and a pillow to sleep on.” A small washroom and bathroom is also attached to his cell so that he does not have to go out of the cell. As per the fixed menu of the jail, he is being given normal food like other normal prisoners.

Sandip Ghosh looks nervous after coming to jail
A jail source told Aaj Tak, “He is looking very nervous since he came to the jail. It will take some time for him to adjust to the prison environment, which is natural.” RG Kar Hospital Special security arrangements have been made in the jail keeping in mind the sensitivity and importance of the case. According to sources, a jail guard has been deployed outside the cell of each prisoner arrested in this particular case for their security. One guard is monitoring these prisoners in three shifts. Apart from this, 24×7 CCTV surveillance is also being done. Security personnel are keeping an eye on all the prisoners through CCTV cameras.
