Singapore saddened by mass deaths in Gaza, calls for ceasefire on humanitarian grounds

Singapore: Israeli attacks on Gaza kill dozens of people every day. Among the dead were children and women. Under such circumstances, Singapore becomes sad. Therefore, we urge all parties to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza on humanitarian grounds and to immediately and unconditionally release all hostages. Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan also expressed “deep concern” over recent legislation in the Israeli Knesset banning UNRWA, the UN Palestinian refugee agency, from operating in Israel and occupied East Jerusalem.

Israel passed the law on October 28. He expressed concern that this would “impede the essential work of UN agencies in delivering relief to the people of Gaza and beyond.” UNICEF, UNRWA and other UN agencies play a vital role in delivering life-saving aid to Gaza, ” the agency said before a ceremony to donate S$700,000 to UNICEF. It has been received and is being honored.

Call on all parties to abide by international law

“We urge all parties to abide by international law, including respecting and protecting the officials of these institutions,” the minister was quoted as saying by The Straits Times. Some of the agency personnel were also injured. He said Singapore urges all parties to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza on humanitarian grounds and to immediately and unconditionally release all those detained by Hamas.
