Shravan Purnima 2024: Purnima has great importance in Hindu religion. The full moon falling in the month of Shravan is known as Shravan Purnima. The fast of Shravan Purnima is being observed today i.e. on 19th August. Purnima Tithi has started today at 3.04 am and the Tithi will last for the whole day i.e. it will end at 11.55 pm.

Auspicious time to donate bath

Bathing on full moon day should be done in Brahma Muhurta. Today the timing of bathing and donation will be from 4:25 am to 05:09 am. Apart from this, you can also take bath from 5.53 am to 8.10 am and the same time will remain for worship today.

Worship method of Shravan Purnima

On the day of Shravan Purnima, one takes bath in a holy river in the morning and wears clean clothes. On this day, after bathing, it is considered auspicious to feed the cow, feed flour to ants and fishes. After this, by sprinkling Ganga water on the post, the idol or statue of Lord Satyanarayan is installed on it. After installing the idol, yellow clothes, yellow fruits, yellow flowers are offered to him and he is worshipped.

After this the story of Lord Satyanarayan is read or heard. After reading the story, charanamrit and panjiri are offered, this prasad is consumed by oneself and distributed among the people. It is believed that if Shravan Purnima fast is followed as per the rituals, then the mistake of not doing Vedic work throughout the year is forgiven. And fasting on Shravan Purnima gives the same results as the fasts of the whole year.
