A medical center spokesman said that an unidentified number of people were sent to a nearby hospital on Thursday at Florida State University Campus.
Hospital spokesperson Sara Canon said that Talhasi Memorial Healthcare was receiving and treating people affected by shooting. He said that the hospital cannot confirm the number of people in care yet, and said that the details are still coming out.
Ambulances, fire trucks and patrol vehicles of several law enforcement agencies ran the campus, which sits west of the state capital of Florida, when the university on Thursday issued an active shooter alert, saying that the police was responding to the student union.

Hundreds of students got away from the direction of the student union. The students were clinging to their phones, some visually emotional, while others hugged each other. Dozens gathered near the music school waiting for the news.
The 21 -year -old communication student, Ryan Sedargrain, said that he and about 30 other people hid in the bowling street at the lower level of the student union after seeing the students from nearby bar.
“At that moment, it was alive,” he said.

The 20 -year -old junior was in the main library of Joshua Sirmans University, when he said that the alarm began to warn an active shooter. He said that the law enforcement officials dropped him and other students out of the library with their hands on their heads.
Attorney General Palm Bondi said in a social media post that the Department of Justice is in touch with the FBI agents who are on the spot.
Students and faculty were instructed to find shelter and wait for further instructions.
